“Le FIC 2022” : the International Cybersecurity Forum in Lille, France starts tomorrow

The International Cybersecurity Forum in Lille, France (FIC2022) starts tomorrow. My team has been reading press releases, and is on-site chatting with attendees who have begun to arrive.

Le FIC is one of the best organised events we attend. The following are a few pre-event thoughts, notes and comments.

6 June 2022 – The International Cybersecurity Forum (“Le FIC”) kicks off tomorrow and runs for 3 days. It is organized jointly by the Direction Générale de la Gendarmerie Nationale (DGGN) and Avisa Partners. This year’s edition is taking place during the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (FPCEU) under the theme: “Shaping Europe’s Digital Future.”

It gets larger and larger every year … more sessions, more speakers, more exhibitors, more hands-on training workshops, more technical presentations. It has fast become a major European reference event, but it now also has an enormous U.S. cybersecurity contingent. The organisers expect over 15,000 visitors, with 100s of vendors and partners (for the list click here), 400+ speakers, and special plenary sessions for government officials and the intelligence community, with over 60 countries represented.

Through a series of sector meetings and hands-on workshops and “red teams” one-consumer protection (e-CPF), industrial cybersecurity (CFI), digital identity (ID & KYC Forum) and OSINT, this year’s edition will enable attendees to connect with high-level experts and help move digital security communities forward.

And the European Cyber Cup (EC2), the first ethical hacking competition held in an eSport format, will return this year featuring 20 teams of students and professionals from leading companies in the field. Emerging experts will compete against seasoned stakeholders through a series of eight trials over two days, including forensics, artificial intelligence, capture the flag, OSINT, and more.

Finally, the special recruiting section returns where you’ll find cybersecurity firms eager to add to their talent base.

We recently interviewed marketing maven Christelle Klein in her Paris offices about the cybersecurity industry and high tech in general, her extensive background, the art of communication and public relations for companies, and the upcoming cybersecurity forum in Lille, France. Here is a clip of her thoughts on the importance of Le FIC:

There really is no better place than FIC2022 to have the opportunity to meet the major players in cybersecurity and take stock of the tendencies and trends regarding cyber attacks, and especially of the solutions given the problem is critical and we encounter it every day.

And everything is right in the venue: the presentation areas, theatre rooms, session halls, private meeting areas, food/drink stands and halls … all within a few steps. And if you are press or media, there are designated work areas. There is no need to leave the venue at all. As I noted, it is one of the best organised events we attend.

There are so many exhibitors and vendors to see that it’s difficult to highlight the ones you “must see”. Review the list here. But I do want to draw your attention to a few that caught our eye:

And you’ll be able to record a video clip of yourself to be presented to their client base. It is well worth a visit.
