VIDEO ESSAY: some thoughts on Hanukkah

Hanukkah is not the Jewish Christmas and people need to stop treating it that way. Some thoughts.

7 December 2021 – Hanukkah almost always falls in December, so the start of the eight-day Jewish holiday falling this past Thanksgiving was a bit jarring for some. There are those who prefer when Hanukkah is near Christmas, so they can tap into the Christian mega-holiday’s national excitement.

But many of my Jewish friends said they were actually relieved there is some daylight between the two religious holidays this year.  I read one quote in the New York Times where someone said “When you decouple it, you can think about what Hanukkah is. For the first time, there’s time to consider Hanukkah”. Some thoughts:
