28 February 2018 (Barcelona, Spain) – As I have noted before, indoor positioning systems (IPS) are systems to locate objects or people inside a building using radio waves, magnetic fields, acoustic signals, beacons, or other sensory information … mostly collected by various mobile devices.
I will have a longer post on this area after the Congress with a detailed explanation of the technology involved based on educational sessions and vendor chats, but I thought I’d share my “mini-video” interview with Ville Norra of the Finish company Quuppa, the leading company for indoor positioning. Finnish high-tech and innovation have become passions of mine after after attending the Slush technology conference in Helsinki, a yearly stop since 2012. The Finnish technology talent pool is amazing – as you will see in three other interviews we did this week, posting next month.
This is my sixth visit to the Mobile World Congress and this year I did something a bit different. With 115,000+ attendees plus 3,200 vendors plus 700 educational sessions to cover I brought two video crews, two extra reporters, plus my video edit team. That way we have been able to film our interviews and do all the post-production work here and be “live” (kinda) for our corporate media clients at the event, as well as some public videos.
So my sincere, sincere thanks to the crew for their incredible work (and tolerance) this week. Especially my video team lead Marco Vallini who grew a wee bit impatient with the pace this week ….
